A Musical Creation by the 2022 Fellows
In the summer of 2022, Bronfman Fellows were asked to write lyrics about a concern or challenge shared by young people. They chose to focus on experiences such as school shootings and, more generally, the isolation and anxiety faced by many teens today, which developed into this mournful yet beautiful song. The piece incorporates Jewish liturgy as well, ending with the Ana Hoshiana (“O Lord, deliver us”) from the Psalms.
The song is performed by Fellows Elke Bentley, Adam Buchsbaum, Niva Cohen, Daphne Feigin, Elnatan Kelman, and Noam Medjuck-Bruckner. Visiting Artist Michael Grailsummer led the music workshop.
Applications for the 2023 Bronfman Fellowship are open! If you are Jewish, in 11th-grade, and from the U.S. or Canada, learn more and apply at bronfman.org.
