Hi, my name is Alon Jeager, and I live in Jerusalem.
When the war started, and we began to hear stories about what happened, I was really in shock, and it was difficult to come to terms with this new reality. I felt like it was not right to continue living normally, and it was a very strange feeling.
Several days after the war started, people started to volunteer and to help out with whatever was necessary, and that really raised my spirits. It was good for me to feel that we were contributing in whatever way we could.
Now, I am feeling good, and enjoying the routine that we are slowly getting back to. In the high school that I go to, there are eight teachers serving in reserve duty in the army, and you can sense that things are different at school. I am worried about people who are important to me who are serving in the army now, on reserve duty, and of course I am sad about the people who were killed that Shabbat and after it. But I try to stay positive as much as possible. Several days ago, my sister’s husband was able to come home after a month in Gaza, and it was a big joy to see him.
It's That Time of Year!
